This will be my final blog post for The Interact Times. After this, I will merely be a blog reader. -sigh- Let me tell you my story.

20th February 2006, I entered SMK Aminuddin Baki. It took my parents two months to finally gain approval from the Pejabat Pelajaran Wilayah Persekutuan to get me into SAB. That same day, I got the slip to choose co-curricular activities. I almost chose to join SABELS but with my cousin's advice, I decided to try something new.

I chose Interact.

To this day, I have NEVER regretted being in the club. I've learned lots of new things, found awesome friends, participated in FOUR IU Days, helped out with some projects along the way.... Basically, I really enjoyed the club.

Two years ago, in Form 3, I decided to try my luck. I went for the interview to select the BOD of 2008/2009 to apply as one of the Deputies. I was too scared to try out for one of the director posts. Apparently, the seniors saw potential in me and I was given the post of Sergeant-At-Arms.

As a newbie in the BOD, I tried my hardest to do my best but it wasn't enough. One of the seniors somewhat scolded me for not doing my best. When time came for the interview for BOD 2009/2010, I applied for the post of Secretary. To my horror, I developed a severe case of flu and tonsilitis. I even lost my voice! So, I had to skip the interview.

During AGM, I discovered that I was given the post of Publicity Deputy instead of Secretary. I discovered that I was the only fifth-former to be given the post of a Deputy. I was crushed. I wanted to quit Interact. I felt that maybe the seniors had been somewhat biased in choosing the new BOD.

But I stayed.

I wanted to prove everybody wrong. I wanted everyone to see how responsible I am. I want everyone to see that I can do well in the Publicity Department despite my shyness towards new people and my fear of public speaking. But I found my medium: The Interact Times. While this blog may not be known to all Interactors, it did serve a purpose. To me, at least. I finally came out of my shell.

And let me share you an accomplishment of both me and the club. With the help of the Publicity Director of Methodist Boys School KL; Joel Kuan, the two of us managed to do a good job in publicising this year's IU Day. And thanks from support from everybody, our IU Day was a success.

And so, here comes the moment I dread most. Here comes goodbye. Imagine if I had chosen SABELS back in form one? Imagine if I quit just because I hated my post? I would've never learned or gained a lot of life experience. To all Interactors, past and present: I would like to apologise if ever, i have offended you in anyway. To the new BOD, I hope you all will be better than the BOD of 2009/2010.

To Phoebe and Lisha, promise me that you'll take care of this blog better than I did. After all, this blog is like my own baby -sniff- :')

This is me, signing out for good. :')

P/S: You guys can still contact me through my Formspring or even visit my Tumblr :)
ok?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7276111360647997129.post-21604247333264841432010-07-25T17:10:00.005+08:002010-07-25T20:46:18.593+08:00New Blog Member :)HELLO EVERYBODY! :)

phoebe here and i'm officially the new publicity director and i'll be taking over this awesome blog alongside my deputy, lisha. she's one of the many new members of the board of directors. i'd personally like to thanks the previous board of directors for doing such an amazing job with everything esp the IU Day! its been a greaat journey with you guys. we'll try our hardest to keep up with the awesome awesome previous board, kayh? this blog will be updated frequently so please open it all the time alrighty? :)

p/s: the blog can't be viewed by internet explorer so its advisable to open this thru mozilla or google chrome ;)

SEE YA FOLKS!

phoebeklairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02456665985353984914noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7276111360647997129.post-49579509710951002932010-07-23T00:01:00.003+08:002010-07-23T00:04:27.902+08:00Photos, photos everywhere.Apparently, I have retired. Everybody must have been ravenous as the food quickly disappeared :P

At about 1.45PM, the event resumed with a hip-hop number. Then, the audience were presented with a touching slideshow/video about Polio and Rotary International’s ‘End Polio Now’ initiative. Candles were lit as tribute to Polio victims and jars were passed around for donations towards the cause.

To lighten up the atmosphere, we revealed our surprise for the audience: DEEJAYS BEN AND NADIA FROM FLY.FM’S PAGI SHOW! Being the professionals that they are, they truly delighted all members of the audience including the PIBG.

[I even managed to take pictures with them before they started emceeing the rest of the event teehee. Don't believe me? Check THIS out:]

All credits go to Nadia. Photo taken from her blog

Next, came yet another performance by the African students. This time, it was a song. This was quickly followed up by the Afro Jazz/Street-Krumping performance. Ben named it Krump Sh*t.[Not in an offensive manner, he was just a little confused!] Before a truly rocking and jaw-dropping belly dance number led by Vice President Rocyie Wong, guests were treated to a presentation on Africa by Queen Omoni(Yes, that’s her name!) Then, came the wonderful, wild and colourful fashion show. It certainly did NOT disappoint.

Before the closing ceremony, presidents of both Interact Clubs of SAB and MBS joined Ben and Nadia onstage to present souvenirs to all the schools that attended. The entire event ended on a high note as BOD of SAB and MBS marched proudly onto the stage, followed by all performers and finally, treating the audience ONE LAST TIME by dancing to the Waka Waka song made famous by Shakira.

All in all, this year’s IU Day was the best one we’ve had so far. Despite the tears, miscommunications and little feuds here and there, we managed to pull ourselves together to provide the most entertaining Saturday for everybody.

<a onblur="try still snoring, most of SAB and MBS BOD and Interactors were already in school last Saturday, as early as 6AM. For what, you ask? WHY, THE BIG DAY FINALLY ARRIVED! SAB-MBS JOINT IU DAY 2010 was several hours away. With half-opened eyes and butterflies in our tummies, we finished up decorating the hall, setting up the stage with band equipment and got the registration counter set up. Then, we all got dressed in our awesome get-ups. For non-performing BOD like myself, we all wore painted T-shirts made possible by Saemah(5 Jaya) and a bunch of other peeps.

Most performers did a final rehearsal for their respective dancers. By 9am, a bunch of people had begun to arrive. I started feeling even more nervous by the second. It’s a feeling that all of the BOD shared that day. BLADES( Baki Literary and Debate English Society) had started to set up their face-painting and drinks booths.

10.30AM- IU Day begins with performances from three bands. One was from MBS, and two from SAB. They were great! However, both SAB bands suffered through technical glitches but in the end, all was well. Our apologies, WeiZeng.]

Finally, IU Day officially starts with a procession of some sorts led by Muaz and his Stompers, followed by both SAB and MBS interactors to escort in the emcees and the African students from UCSI who were happy to take part in our event. After singing the National Anthem and the Interact song, the Africans entertained us with a dance performance followed by the speeches.

<span style="line-height: 115%;font-family:";font-size:85%;" >The audience really enjoyed what came next: WARRIOR DANCE! Yes, we're gonna make our IU Day the best. Yes, it's going to be awesome. BUT, the IU Day stress is catching up to us. Last night, I had a nightmare that IU Day was moved to TODAY without the knowledge of half of guests and Interactors alike.

And now, our tiny IU Director has become a monosyllabic zombie. The MBS boys are busy with the preparation of the sketch, Polio Awareness video and designing tickets for the event.

Meanwhile, us SABians are probably busier. BODs are having frequent meetings to ensure the event will be a success, Interactors helping out even if only for a little bit for decor and finding the perfect emcees, the entire school buzzing about the event.

The event is going to be MAGICAL! Be there, or be square people. Tickets will be sold tentatively starting next week. We had our first club meeting on Thursday after AGES of not having one. Unfortunately, attendance was unsatisfactory. Invalid excuses due to your absence will not be tolerated.

For those who missed it: Thursday's meeting was about discussing IU Day, dividing people into groups to prepare for IU Day and discussion amongst BOD on the event.

In case you didn't know, SAB's Interact Club will be joining forces with MBS for this year's IU Day. And since it is a public event and a fundraiser for Polio, DO invite everyone you know and spread the word like crazy!

With help and cooperation from ALL interactors, I KNOW this year's IU Day will be bigger and better than ever!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7276111360647997129.post-37434482559929332672010-06-05T16:35:00.002+08:002010-06-05T16:54:55.509+08:00Meet the BOD.So, you probably don't know that us BOD have meetings once in a while to discuss about the club's events and projects. Here's a sneak peek to our top secret, very boring, very serious meetings.

[Disclaimer: All photos owned by Rocyie Wong]

Start:

Notice how everyone's paying attention? (Note: CRYSTAL)

Around Mid-meeting:

Still mid-meeting:

And when it ends, well.. it looks a little bit like this:
(Note: This was taken after INTERACT meeting, not BOD meeting. But yeah, you should get the idea)

See what we go through, Interactors? Be grateful that we survive meeting after meeting for the best interests of the whole club.

:)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7276111360647997129.post-31423154142014584692010-06-05T16:12:00.004+08:002010-06-05T16:27:16.759+08:00With a new name, comes a new layout.
Hey all! I apologise for the lack of updates. With mid-year exams over and done with, we can finally resume all Interact activities. So, I've decided to come up with a new name for the blog because honestly, "THE INTERACT CLUB OF SMK AMINUDDIN BAKI" is not a blog name... IT'S WHO WE ARE!

Also, I've managed to revamp the whole look and feel of the blog. Don't tell me you think this new layout is not elegant ;)

And we now have a chatbox for you Interactors to uhh... Interact with one another. If you can be talkative[AHEM!] during our weekly meetings, surely you can make te his blog livelier! A word of caution for all you Interactors: While we do encourage everyone to voice out their opinions, being rude and distasteful will NOT be tolerated.

Back to the blog name. If you think you can come up with a better name for the blog, then post your suggestions on the chatbox! I will read it ASAP.

Love.Peace.Interact.
Farah.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7276111360647997129.post-23407762246580477832010-05-08T19:46:00.006+08:002010-06-05T16:58:37.609+08:00ORPHANAGE HOME VISIT!Hey! During the last few days before the event, many houses were busy fighting for first place. Cheer girls and march-pass squads simply did not disappoint.

In conjunction with Sports Day, the Interact Club had another Funding project. We sold wristbands in blue, red, green and yellow with different taglines to represent all four sports houses: Temenggung, Laksamana, Syahbandar and Bendahara respectively. There were two other options in black and orange with the message 'I LOVE SAB' on them.

In the beginning, we had some minor setbacks but fortunately, we managed to overcome those pesky problems and managed to sold quite a number of the wristbands. However, some seniors who left the school 2-3 years ago and had attended Sports Day were disappointed that we didn't have any extra to sell.

Oh, well. Better luck next time!

We sincerely thank everyone for supporting the project and for those who bought the wristbands, just because Sports Day is over doesn't mean you can't show off your Temenggung/Laksamana/Syahbandar/Bendahara pride! ;)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7276111360647997129.post-32479822584114598732010-04-20T00:44:00.002+08:002010-04-20T00:58:49.917+08:00Let the IU Day fever BEGIIINNN!!Hi guys!
